With the influx of technology, the dance ministry community has been able to embrace new technology to help deliver their message.
While dance ministry in churches was not as popular as it is now, I can only imagine some of our predecessor's fear that their cassette tape would be "eaten" by the cassette player in the middle of their ministry piece! If you grew up in the 80s at some point you used a pencil to try to fix your favorite cassette!
Today, one of the dance ministers greatest fear is the infamous CD skipping or not playing at all! While the technology isn't perfect, it was a great leap from cassettes. Here are some things you can do to minimize the risk of your CD skipping or not playing:
- Burn 2 copies of a new CD each time you minister. CDs are inexpensive and most new computers come with burning software. If you don't know how to copy the song from the original CD, then you can probably buy it from Amazon Music for $0.99
- Make sure you are using CD-Rs made for MUSIC. Some CD players will not play burned data CDs. Most will play any CD formatted for music
CDs will soon be a thing of the past! More music is being purchased in digital formats. You won't have to worry about a CD skipping if you can plug your digital music player directly into the sound system! This option is becoming more popular…but like it's predecessors….it is not fool proof! You need to make sure the sound person is tech savvy enough to operate your device. Also, let's make sure the device is not running on low batteries!
It used to be if you wanted to mix, cut or fade a song, you had to hire a professional sound engineer. Now, there is free software available to help you do just that!
Technology has also changed the way we are able to distribute and exchange information. Not to long ago, if I wanted to send out a newsletter…it was through the postal system. Now, it can be done through email.
Here are some recent products / services taking advantage of the technology at our disposal:
